By using arena, you agree to these terms. They're written to be readable — not to trap you. If something is unclear, reach out.
What arena is
arena is a free tool for hosting informal game night tournaments. It is provided as-is, for personal and recreational use. There are no subscriptions, no payments, and no user accounts.
Acceptable use
You agree to use arena only for lawful, personal purposes. You must not:
Use arena to harass, impersonate, or harm other people
Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or overload the service
Automate game night creation in a way that abuses the platform
Enter false, misleading, or offensive content into any arena field
Use arena for commercial tournaments or events without our permission
Abuse prevention
To keep arena functional for everyone, we limit game night creation to 2 per device per 24 hours. This limit is enforced via an anonymous cookie-based device identifier. Attempts to circumvent this limit may result in your access being blocked.
Tournament lifecycle and expiry
Tournaments in arena automatically expire if they go stale. This is expected behaviour, not a bug. Specifically:
A game night in registration status expires if no bracket is generated within 6 hours of registration closing
A configured but unstarted tournament expires 2 hours after the bracket is generated
An abandoned live tournament expires 3 hours after the last score was recorded
A completed tournament's link expires 2 hours after the final result
Once expired, a game night link shows a "not found" screen and the data is no longer accessible via the app. We do not guarantee recovery of expired tournament data.
No guarantee of uptime
arena is an indie product running on third-party infrastructure (Vercel and Supabase). We do our best to keep it available, but we make no guarantees of uptime, availability, or data persistence. Do not use arena for anything where downtime would cause serious harm.
Limitation of liability
arena is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service — including lost tournament data, missed events, or any other direct or indirect losses.
Intellectual property
arena and its branding, design, and code are owned by the arena team. You retain ownership of any content you enter (names, scores, game data). By using arena, you grant us a limited licence to store and display that content to run the service.
Termination and suspension
We reserve the right to suspend or block access to arena for any user or device that violates these terms, abuses the platform, or causes harm to other users or the service — without prior notice.
Updates to these terms
We may update these terms as arena grows. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use arena after changes means you accept the updated terms.
